Android Tablet with Dual Boot for Ubuntu

Augen announces 6 Android Tablets, GENTOUCH Espresso Doppio with dual boot

Those of you who were considering the purchase of an Android-based tablet but weren't convinced as of yet, have now new options to think about, as Augen has just announced the upcoming release of no less than six such devices, with screens ranging from 7 to 10 inches, and with price tags of $199.99 to $599.99.

Two tablet series were announced as coming soon to the market, namely the Latte and Espresso Series, with all devices powered by Google's Android 2.2 operating system.

Moreover, Augen announced that the Espresso Series tablets are powered by Cortex A8 and A9 1GHz Processors and that they are set to an upgrade to Android 3.0 when it becomes available.

One of the nicest tablets in the series seems to be the GENTOUCH Espresso Doppio, which comes with all the features that traditional laptops include, while sporting Dual Boot Android/Ubuntu OS.

According to the company, “Espresso Doppio’s Android/Ubuntu OS utilizes full functionality of a laptop; including a variety of emailing, social networking, business applications, and printing options.”

The 10.2” tablet sports a 1024 x 768 pixels Multi-Touch Capacitive Screen, complemented by a 6000 mAh battery that can deliver up to 10 hours of usage time.

Moreover, the slate can be combined with “a QWERTY chocolate style LED backlit keyboard,” offering a high-tech device that can deliver up to 15 hours of usage time via two 6000 mAh batteries (one included in each component).

The specifications list of the device also includes a 1GHz processor, 512MB of RAM, a 3 megapixel DSC front facing camera for video calling, 3 axis accelerometer, and a multi-touch track pad.

Other specs of the device include WiFi-802.11(a/b/g/n) connectivity, and a 2.5″ SATA IDE HDD 160GB hard drive, in addition to 2 USB OTG/Ports.

The slate comes with a MSRP of $599.99, the company announced.

The Android-based tablets the company announced in the Latte series include GENTOUCH Latte, with a 7” Resistive Touch Screen (800 x 480 resolution), MSRP $199.99, and the GENTOUCH Latte Grande, also 7'', with a 800MHz CPU processor inside and a MSRP of $249.99 attached to it.

As for the Espresso Series, other tablets there include the GENTOUCH Espresso and GENTOUCH Espresso Firma with 7” Multi-Touch Capacitive Screens, MSRP $349.99, and the GENTOUCH Espresso Dolce, with a 10.2” Multi-Touch Capacitive Screen, and a MSRP of $429.99.

“All models include a 16 pin connector that will be used in conjunction with our docking stations. All devices include optimized for Augen devices SlideME Applications Store,” the company added.
