Reports from Apple Support Communities indicate that people who once used an iPhone and switched to an Android phone are having trouble receiving texts from their iPhone-wielding friends.

The problem? iMessage, according to a person going by the screen name of Literroy over at Apple’s forums.

"I bought an Android phone tonight, replacing my iPhone," he explained in an entry made last month.

"I also ported my number to the new phone. However, now, anytime someone with an iPhone tries to SMS me, their phone automatically sends it as an iMessage, which I can't receive, since I no longer use my iPhone."

In the meanwhile, someone found a fix to the problem. Forum user Alphonsusjude says that all he had to do was to access his Apple profile and unregister the iPhone that he used to text people with.

Couldn't the user go back to his old iPhone, and in Settings > Messages turn off the iMessage setting?
