With Toggle Settings

Everybody knows that accessing some vital functions of the G1 on the Home screen is not possible, and that you need to browse through several menus to reach Wi-Fi settings or Bluetooth activation. Of course, you can put some shortcuts on your Home screen or on any of the additional screens, but not all of these functions can be added as shortcuts. This is one of the major problems with G1, in terms of functionality, but with the help of a free third-party application, you can avoid it.

The application is called Toggle Settings and can be easily downloaded from the Android Market. After installing it, you'll be able to make a shortcut of the software on your Home screen or on any of the additional ones. It doesn't matter where you put it, as you'll have quick access to it anyway.

Once click on the shortcut and you'll be able to quickly change the following phone settings: 3G/2G network, Airplane mode, Auto-sync, Bluetooth availability, Screen brightness, GPS, GPS (Wireless), Ringer mode, Ring profiles, Screen timeout and Wi-Fi.

These settings are listed on two fully customizable pages. You can browse between pages by tapping on the title or by sliding to the left or right. Each page contains six toggles, but this number can be decreased to a minimum of three. You can also arrange the toggles the way you want, usually the one you use often on the first page.
Toggle Settings isn't too complex, it doesn't take too much storage space and won't load your CPU or memory. It's the perfect app for Android starters, who need basic functionality on their G1 device. For experts, I recommend Power Manager, which will make changes to the system functions according to your battery's power.
