Google has made some subtle changes to the OS

Just like last year, Google has decided that it's a good idea to offer developers a sneak peek into their next version of Android, so they can be prepared for what's to come.

The Android M Developer Preview was released a few hours ago, and after a few tries we've managed to flash the Nexus 5 system image made available by Google.

If you own a Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 9 or Nexus Player, then you can flash the developer preview as well, but we do not recommend it since this is a very early build and not all features might work as intended.

Now, from what we've noticed, Google has made some visual changes, which make Android M look more vivid, less dull. Our Nexus 5 was quite snappy even after installing Android M Developer Preview, so if you plan on flashing it, you won't have issues when it comes to performance.

For a very early version it runs quite alright

There are quite a few new features that we've noticed while browsing the menus, such as the option to allow permission for each app installed on the phone.

You can also see what apps have permission to major parts of the OS, and you can enable and disable these permissions whenever you want.

Also, in the applications menu you can see which apps are eating your battery. You can also see which ones have been excluded from the battery optimization process and are allowed to consume more energy when they require it.

There's also a system UI tuner that will allow users to arrange or remove quick settings in the notification area. You can move around toggles for Flashlight, Cast, Hotspot, Cellular data, Do not disturb and other functions.

The app drawer has all the apps and services arranged in alphabetical order and you can user search to find anything in there. Lots of other tweaks and subtle changes have been made, but we'll let you check out the screenshots we've taken and published below.
