Google is reportedly getting ready to launch the next flavor of Android under the name of “Key Lime Pie,” the latest reports on the matter suggest.

The next platform release will arrive on devices after Jelly Bean, which has been rumored to be the codename for the Android 5.0 version of the mobile platform.

For the time being, no specific info on when the next Android release might become available has emerged, but The Verge notes that next year is the safest bet at the moment.

The news site also notes that, while Google has yet to confirm the codename for the next Android version, the info on it being called Key Lime Pie comes from the same source that hinted at Jelly Bean.

What remains to be seen is what version number that Android release will feature. Stay tuned for more on this.
