A new mobile phone made an appearance into the wild with Google's Android operating system on board, namely the Sharp IS03, aimed for Japan's KDDI au network.

The handset looks pretty appealing, and should prove a great option to users looking for a device able to deliver great visuals on the go.

The most interesting feature of the new handset is the fact that its 3.5-inch screen boast a 960 x 640 pixel resolution, complemented by Advanced Super View (ASV), which matches the capabilities of iPhone's retina display.

However, it appears that this is only nice feature the device comes to the market in Japan with, as users will also find it packing a 9.6-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus and image stabilization.

According to a recent article on Engadget, the device also comes with one-seg TV tuner, as well as with a special application, supposedly called Osaifu-Keitai, which offers users the possibility to pay for various items contactless.

The specifications list of the new Android-based handset also includes support for Global CDMA connectivity, which means that we might even see it working on networks in the US.

At the same time, we should note that the device comes with support for 802.11b / g Wi-Fi connectivity, as well as with Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR capabilities.

A microSD memory card slot has been included into the equation too, enabling users expand the amount of memory available for apps or for storing various files.

On the downside, the Sharp IS03 is powered by Google's Android 2.1 operating system, which means that there will be no Flash Player 10.1 included into the mix, though Flash Lite is still there.

According to the news, the new Android-based mobile phone is set to become available for purchase in Japan in late November via wireless carrier KDDI au. It should hit shelves in three color versions, namely orange, white and black.
