Computer maker Acer announced last week the official launch of its first handset powered by Google's Android operating system, the Acer Liquid A1. Following the initial announcement, the handset can now be admired in a series of live images, in which it is dressed up in red, and one can also take a look at the specification list for the phone.

The Acer Liquid Android-powered handset comes to the market with a Qualcomm QSD 8250 1GHz processor, which is said to actually run only at 768Mhz, 512 MB of ROM and 256 MB of RAM, with a 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that boasts an 800 × 480 pixel (WVGA) resolution, as well as with a 5-megapixel photo snapper that sports auto focus capabilities.

Other features of the device also include 802.11b/g Wi-Fi CERTIFIED network connection and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR (Enhanced Data Rate) capabilities, as well as built-in AGPS support, accelerometer, light sensor, 3.5mm headphone jack, Messaging capabilities, including MMS and SMS and Home, Search, Back, Menu capacitive buttons, coupled with Volume Up, Volume Down, Camera, Power / Standby hardware buttons.

When it comes to the connectivity features of the phone, we can count GSM: quad-band 850/900/1800/1900 MHz, GPRS/EDGE: Class B, multi-slot class 10, HSDPA Category 8/ HSUPA Category 5 /UMTS (2100 / 1900 / 900 Mhz) for EU and HSDPA Category 8/ HSUPA Category 5 /UMTS (2100 / 1900 / 850 Mhz) for US bands support.

We should also mention that the Acer Liquid comes with a 1.350 mAh battery that can deliver up to 6 hours of talk time on GSM networks, or up to 5 hours on WCDMA. The handset measures 115 × 64 x 12.43 mm and weighs 135g with the battery inside. The device seems attractive enough, and its features quite appealing, though one should agree that, when compared to the recently pictured Motorola Droid, it pales. However, below are a few images that emerged on pocket-lint, and here you can find the entire gallery.
