Google’s Android operating system is clearly a leader on the smartphone market. The latest official numbers from the Internet giant show over 900,000 devices being activated daily.

The figure comes from Google Sr. VP Andy Rubin via Twitter, accompanied by a denial of rumors that he might be leaving Google.

Back in February, Android activations were of around 850,000 units per day, which shows a slow down when compared to previous years.

Analyst firms already suggested that Android would peak this year, and that it would soon start to lose ground to other operating systems out there, such as Microsoft’s Windows Phone.

However, the platform will still be the leader on the smartphone OS market for a good several quarters, and we might even see it continue to grow for the next months.
