Other devices will get the new build later in November

It’s been just a day since Google’s big announcement which saw the Nexus 6 smartphone, Nexus 9 tablet and Android 5.0 Lollipop arrive into the wild.

While the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 are the first devices to take Android 5.0 out for a spin, some voices raised concerns whether Nexus devices that have missed the 18-month support window will be given the Android 5.0 treatment or not.

All Nexuses will get Android 5.0

Luckily Google itself sent all those fears to bed, when it confirmed that all the current Nexus tablets will receive the much-awaited update. This includes the Nexus 7 (2012), Nexus 7 (2013) and Nexus 10.

So after sighing with release, owners of older Nexus tablets had only one question: when could they expect the new update?

And we think we have the answer. A couple of reliable sources talking to Android Police have revealed the Nexus 7 (2012), Nexus (2013) and Nexus 10, only Wi-Fi models will be receiving Android 5.0 Lollipop on November 3.

The new build will arrive on the slates via an OTA update, which will hit different products at different times, depending on your location.

Supposedly, the LTE variations of the tablets will have to wait a little longer.

Android 5.0 is expected to bring an entire slew of improvements, but the most important enhancement comes in the form of the Material Design UI, which has been made to be more responsive and intuitive than any other OS version developed by Google so far.

You can also expect to find new notifications settings and features, which add more control to the way you actually receive a message. For example, if you don’t want to get messages during a certain time-frame, you can set up things to suit your demands..

Another interesting novelty is the ability to answer to messages from the lock screen. Users will also be able to keep playing or watching a video while a call is coming in.

Android 5.0 will also bring battery life improvements and enhanced security feats, so we’re pretty excited to see the new build land on the Nexus tablets.

November 3 is when Nexus 9 ships out

Nexus devices are traditionally the first products to benefit from Google’s latest updates and this will be the case with Lollipop too.

November 3 is actually the date when the Nexus 9 is due to ship out to the first customers. The device is already up for pre-order on Amazon, so if you have (at least) $399 / €312 to spare and crave a new tablet, click add to cart now.
