The two handsets are being bumped to version 5.0.2 directly

Last week we told you the second-gen Motorola Moto G appeared to be getting the Android 5.0.2 update in the US, but we were unsure whether this happening was part of a wider roll-out.

Apparently, Motorola has been putting off releasing the update because it was busy fixing some issues, but this week we have good news for you.

Moto G is being bumped to Android 5.0.2 in India as we speak

If you’re the owner of either the Moto G (2014) or Moto G (2013) and you live in India, then Motorola invites you to be on the lookout for the notification alerting you the update has arrived on your handset.

Motorola is pushing the Android 5.0.2 version directly, like we've seen it do a few days ago in the US. So happy, happy, joy, joy!

As it happens with most updates, the new build will arrive on your mobile device over-the-air (OTA), so you should be getting a notification informing you Lollipop is now available for your model.

But if you get impatient, you can take the proactive route and manually look for the update, by going under Settings > About Phone > Software updates to see if the new software is there for the taking.

The new build will bring about the much sought-after Material Design changes, improved notifications, new interruption and downtime options, a fresh multitasking UI design, an updated Motorola Assist, Smart Lock, performance boost and improved battery life.

Expect more Motorola handsets to get Lollipop treatment

Since Motorola has officially kick started the roll-out of the Lollipop update for its Moto G series, we should expect the Moto X (first edition) and Moto E to be next in line. To remind you, the Lollipop update for Moto X (second generation) has already started making rounds in India.

The company is also expected to provide the hyped update for handsets like the Motorola Droid Turbo, Motorola Moto Maxx, Motorola Droid Ultra, Motorola Droid Maxx and Motorola Droid Mini really soon.
