14 DAY TRIAL // There have been reports that Samsung plans to offer some micro-updates for Galaxy S5 that should fix some of the issues the smartphone got after Android 5.0 Lollipop.
Even the South Korean company, along with a few carriers, confirmed the information, but they did not say exactly when these updates would be available for download.
Luckily, at least one carrier revealed the timeframe for the next Lollipop update for Samsung Galaxy S5. The folks over at YouMobile report that Australian network operator Optus is going to release Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update sometime in June.
For the time being, the update is being tested by the carrier mentioned earlier, and if nothing wrong happens, Samsung Galaxy S5 owners at Optus can hope to get Android 5.0.2 Lollipop on their devices.
Keep in mind that while some versions of Galaxy S5, such as the LTE-A model (G901F), have been upgraded directly to Android 5.0.2 Lollipop, the original model received Android 5.0 Lollipop.
It's also worth mentioning that the Optus Galaxy S5 is still on Android 4.4.2 KitKat, so the upcoming update will be the first Lollipop upgrade these users get.
Android 5.0.2 Lollipop for Samsung Galaxy S5 is meant to be a minor update that should fix some of the issues reported by users. Some much-needed improvements should be included in the update as well.
Android 5.1 Lollipop might follow in the coming months
If Samsung's statement is accurate enough, we might see even more micro-updates being delivered to Galaxy S5 in the coming months.
We also expect Samsung to make Android 5.1 Lollipop available to its flagship smartphones, Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge, but the Galaxy S5 might get it too.
In other news, the South Korean company has yet to make any comments on the upcoming Android M platform, so for the time being it's unclear which devices will get the update apart from Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge.
