14 DAY TRIAL // Google barely rolled out the Android 5.0.1 update for its Nexus tablets (except Nexus 7 2012) and smartphones. Also recently, Samsung was revealed to be working on Android 5.0.1 for its Galaxy Note Edge and Galaxy Note 4 smartphones, which will thus skip a beat in their update process.
So you thought Android 5.0.1 was new? Sorry to disappoint you, it’s already yesterday’s news, as the Android 5.0.2 update has just started rolling out for one of Google’s Nexus tablets.
No, it’s not the newest of the bunch, the Nexus 9. Interestingly enough, the 2012 Wi-Fi Nexus 7 tablet is actually the first device to be given Android 5.0.2 treatment.
The LRX22G firmware is already available for download from Google’s Nexus factory images website, and new binaries are also up for grabs, which will supposedly bring updates in terms of graphics, camera, touch panel, wireless chips, and more.
The Nexus 7 (2012) never got around to receiving the Android 5.0.1 update, so Google is making it up by updating it to 5.0.2 directly.
There is no official changelog, but we assume the new build comes to fix some bugs found in Android 5.0.
Anyway, take into consideration that installing a factory image will cause all your data to be deleted. So if you want to prevent that from happening, you might want to wait for Google to push the OTA update.
Also note that Android 5.0.2 has now arrived in the Android Open Source Project.
