Samsung is enforcing a new policy on newer smartphones

Owners of Galaxy Note 3 smartphones out there have already started to receive the Android 4.4 KitKat platform upgrade, some only to discover that third-party accessories that they are using with the device no longer work.

Many users have started to complain on the XDA-Developers Forum about this, claiming that their Spigen’s S-View flip cover no longer works after installing the Android 4.4 KitKat update.

According to SamMobile, the South Korean mobile phone maker was already said to plan on enforcing a new policy on new products, so as to ensure that only certified accessories work with them, and it appears that this has already started.

This also suggests that Spigen accessories, along with products coming from similar makers, might end up being useless on Samsung’s latest devices, although this is limited only to KitKat-running Galaxy Note 3 models for the time being.
