The ROM features an older software for the phone, packs a series of issues

Owners of Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphones on the network of wireless carrier AT&T can now download and install a leaked Android 4.4 KitKat build for their devices.

This is an unofficial release for the smartphone, brought online by XDA-Developers Forum member designgears, featuring build number I337UCUFMLD.

As SamMobile notes, the ROM is said to have been compiled on January 2, which means that it is not based on the latest KitKat firmware available for the smartphone.

Similar software has emerged online a few weeks back for the international version of Galaxy S4, but it included a newer software version inside.

Even so, those who still want to see how Android 4.4 will run on their AT&T Galaxy S4 smartphones should head over to the aforementioned forums to grab it.

However, you should know that the firmware comes with new bootloaders, which means that you won’t be able to go back to the previous Android 4.3 Jelly Bean software.

Moreover, the build hasn’t been rooted yet, and it also packs an issue that causes the phone to reboot when a video is launched, it seems.

These problems alone should determine users to stay away from the leaked build until AT&T and Samsung officially start rolling out the update, or at least until a new, more stable ROM emerges online.

Those who will still go for the download and installation should take extra care, as it is not quite recommended. They will be the only ones held responsible in the event that the phone is damaged in any way during the process.

This thread on the XDA-Developers Forum will offer some more info on what to expect from the leaked build, while also providing the necessary download links. In fact, a one-click version of the firmware is also available for download, making it easier for users to install it.
