Chinese branded tablets are invading the US market, so customers in the country can purchase models like the Pipo M9 PRO through on-line retailers like Amazon.

The tablet is a pretty decent one, as it comes equipped with a 10.1-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1920 x 12000 pixels and draws power from a quad-core RK3188 processor. Pipo ships with Android 4.2 out of the box, but customers hungry for a taste of KitKat sweetness now have the option to do so.

A user on the ArcTablet forum has posted Android 4.4.2 KitKat rooted firmware for the tablet, compatible with the Wi-Fi model of the tablet but also with the 3G version.

Flashing the ROM will bring about several improvements, including the Google Play Store fixes so more applications are visible/compatible, increased space for applications to 4GB, disabled OTA updates. Also note that most Chinese, unnecessary applications have also been removed.

The firmware has been confirmed to work by many users, so if you want to give it a try, head on over to the forum to download the 270MB file.
