It been a crazy month for Android enthusiasts anxiously waiting for Google to unveil the Nexus 5 and Android 4.4 KitKat platform. Even though the search giant already made its official announcements, there's still a lot to report on given the fact Android 4.4 KitKat is yet to make its debut.

However, with the factory image and source code for Android 4.4 KitKat already released, developers and fans who like to tinker with these files have a lot to work.

In this regard, it looks like the first unofficial ROMs for Samsung Galaxy Nexus have just been released by the community, for the community.

Both Android 4.4 KitKat ROMs are now available for download via XDA Developers forum, though they are still in alpha.

Given the fact that Google confirmed it will not offer an official Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade for Galaxy Nexus, those who own the device should probably look to other means of getting the update and XDA Developers is a great place for that.
