Starting today, owners of an LG G2 smartphone on the network of wireless carrier Sprint can download and install the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system on their devices, the operator has officially announced.

According to a post on Sprint’s support website, the new platform release will provide users not only with the enhancements and capabilities that Android 4.4 brings along, but also with a series of other improvements.

For example, following the update, users will no longer find their devices being impacted by a Next Radio audio issue, it seems.

The new platform iteration has started to arrive on LG G2 handsets at the carrier today, but it might take up to several days before it is pushed to all handsets out there.

According to Sprint, the rollout will be made in phases, though it should not be too long before all users receive it. It will be deployed over the air.

“If prompted that an update is available, follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation,” the wireless carrier notes.

Users can also check on the availability of this update manually, by going to Settings > About phone > Software Updates and hitting the Check Now button. Following the update, the software on LG G2 should show version ZVB, Sprint also notes.
