Owners of HTC One smartphones on the network of wireless carrier Sprint can now download and install the Android 4.4 KitKat update for their devices.

The new release was announced late last week, but Sprint decided to pull the plug on it soon after, while HTC confirmed that it would be released very soon.

Now, Sprint’s HTC One users can grab the update through heading to Settings > About phone > Software update and hitting the Check Now button. The new firmware is available only by user-initiated request, which means that this is the only way to receive it.

However, Sprint will also start the automatic deployment of Android 4.4 KitKat for HTC One on February 11 to those who won’t manually download the update by that day.

The rollout will be performed in stages, thus some people will receive it a bit later. The Sense 5.5 UI is included in the release as well. More info on the upgrade can be found on Sprint's support website.
