Canadian carrier Rogers has just confirmed the Android 4.4 KitKat update for a load of Samsung devices and one Sony smartphone. After delivering the upgrade for high-end smartphones such as Sony Xperia Z1, Samsung Galaxy S4 and LG G2, Rogers is now promising the same treatment for older, mid-range handsets.

Top of the list is Samsung Galaxy S III, which wasn’t really in the cards for a KitKat update, although initially, the South Korean company has announced that the smartphone will eventually be upgraded to Android 4.4 at some point.

Next in line is the Galaxy Note 2, which was also confirmed for an Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade, but Samsung has delayed the release for quite a long time.

Well, it looks like Samsung Galaxy Note 2 owners who have purchased their smartphones through Rogers are in luck, as the carrier has just confirmed that the old phablet is on track for receiving the long-awaited update.

But these are not the only devices at Rogers that are promised the highly anticipated Android 4.4 KitKat update. According to Rogers’ “OS Upgrades” scheduler, the following Samsung devices should get the KitKat upgrade soon: Galaxy Mega, Galaxy S4 Mini and Galaxy Note 8.0.

This may not be news for some, but Rogers has also confirmed that the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update will also arrive for Sony Xperia ZL. The latter has been listed by Sony among the smartphones that will be upgraded this month, along with the Xperia Z and Xperia ZR.

Unfortunately, we don’t have any exact release dates confirmed for these updates, but Rogers claims that they are all “Coming Soon,” which usually means a few weeks.

If everything goes well, owners of these devices might start seeing the KitKat update by the end of the month. Still, Rogers often makes updates to its “OS Upgrades” scheduler, so we will probably know when exactly a new update is about to hit one of the devices mentioned a few days ahead of the actual release.

However, keep in mind that these are only estimates and the companies delivering these updates might cancel or delay them along the way. Also, even though Rogers listed the update as Android 4.4 KitKat for all these smartphones and tablets, the exact version of the build may be different by device.

Anyway, we will keep an eye out for any additional details on the Android 4.4 KitKat for these devices and we will update the article with new info as soon as it becomes available. Stay tuned.
