The information has been recently confirmed by French carrier SFR

SFR is one of the few carriers that has inside information regarding Samsung major software updates and has the courage to make it official even before the South Korean company dares come forward with an announcement.

Some of these tentative proved to be inaccurate, but others were the real thing so take the following with a tint of salt until we get more confirmations from other sources.

Well, it looks like Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 will be among the first Samsung smartphones to receive the highly-anticipated Android 4.4 KitKat update.

Obviously, the first being Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition, which has already received the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update earlier this week.

Although there are no exact release dates available yet, French carrier SFR claims both devices should start receiving the upgrade between late January and early February, 2014.

SFR states that it can't offer more details on when exactly the KitKat update will arrive on Galaxy S 4 and Galaxy Note 3, but seems pretty certain that will happen for sure next month.

As already mentioned earlier, SFR has a pretty long record of leaks that did not happen as soon as it claimed but they managed to nail it a few times, so hopefully this time the French carrier knows what is talking about once again.

For the time being, there are no details whatsoever on which smartphones and tablets Samsung plans to upgrade to Android 4.4 KitKat, but there are rumors the handset maker takes into consideration some mid-range devices as well.

Let's hope if Android 4.4 KitKat arrives on Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 as early as next month, it won't be so buggy as the last Jelly Bean update provided in the last couple of weeks to some Galaxy models. Stay tuned for more info on the matter.
