Mobile phone users in Australia who own a Moto G smartphone are currently receiving the Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system update, after the firmware has arrived on this smartphone in some other markets out there.

The new update has started to arrive on devices as a 167MB download and is being pushed to users over-the-air, which means that a notification will appear on the device once it is ready for installation.

As Ausdroid notes, the new platform iteration will provide users with a redesigned dialer app, as well as with access to the Motorola Alert application that was first released on Moto E.

Additionally, the firmware refresh will allow users to pause recording of videos, courtesy of a new button that will appear on the camera viewfinder.

The rollout of the new operating system version will be performed in stages, which means that some of you might have to wait for several days before receiving it.

However, you can manually check on its availability through going to Settings > About Phone > Check for System Updates.

Apparently, Motorola Australia is also listing Moto X and Moto E as ready to receive the new platform upgrade, but it appears that the deployment hasn’t started for them just yet.
