Mobile phone maker Motorola has unveiled earlier this week that it is planning on delivering the Android 4.4.3 KitKat OS update to its Moto X users before next week, and it seems that the company has already started the deployment of this update OTA.

The roll-out kicked off with the Moto X devices on T-Mobile’s network, though it appears that those who own a Developer Edition of the smartphone can also download and install it today.

All of the features and enhancements that were announced for the Android 4.4.3 KitKat platform iteration were included in the new release, though Motorola mentions only the most important of them on its support website.

“We are excited to announce a new software update for Moto X by Motorola. With this upgrade you get the latest version of the Android OS (Android 4.4.3, KitKat,) as well as new features, enhancements and bug fixes for your Moto X,” the company has announced.

Moreover, the handset vendor notes that the new OS release comes to devices with a variety of stability, framework, and security fixes, and that it was also designed to offer accuracy improvements to the power profile.

Moreover, the update comes with better camera capabilities with improved image quality, courtesy of a series of enhancements such as better consistency of exposure, more realistic flash coloring, and better photos in low light conditions using front camera.

On top of that, Android 4.4.3 will provide Moto X users with the possibility to pause video recording, courtesy of a pause/resume button that has been added to the camera viewfinder.

The new operating system release also comes with an updated Phone dialer, which includes a new graphical layout, as well as colors to improve consistency and usability.

There is also a new Motorola Alert application available for Moto X users (it is up for grabs through the Google Play Store as well), designed to send periodic alerts with the user’s location to selected contacts.

Following the update, users should see software version 212.44.21.ghost_row.Retail.en.US loaded on their devices (at least those with Moto X units on T-Mobile). To check that, they should go to Settings > About phone > Software version.

As soon as the update is available for their devices, users will receive a notification on the matter. However, they can also manually check for the upgrade’s availability by heading to Settings > About phone > System updates and hitting the Check now button.

Before proceeding with the update, users should make sure that the battery inside their devices is charged at least at 50 percent. The Android 4.4.3 KitKat update weighs 140.8MB.
