No update in sight, even though initial word claimed that it would arrive this week

Here is some bad news for Sprint customers who own the Nexus 5. After posting the changelog for what we initially thought would be the Android 4.4.3 KitKat update that Google was likely to push to all Nexus devices in the coming weeks, Sprint pulled any mentions of the said update from its support website.

Android 4.4.3 KitKat is internally known as update KTU84F, but Sprint made a typo in the initial listing, which is why, after the carrier published the changelog of the update, we were certain that this was the highly anticipated KitKat 4.4.3 upgrade.

Aside from upgrading the Nexus 5’s software to Android 4.4.3 KitKat, the update should have enabled two new Spark LTE bands for Sprint customers.

Unfortunately, AndroidPolice has just noticed that Sprint has removed any mention of the previously confirmed Android 4.4.3 KitKat update for Nexus 5, which should have been pushed between April 14 and April 21.

It’s unclear who is to blame for the removal of the update, but both Sprint and Google had their own changes included in this version of Android 4.4.3 KitKat.

If Sprint was forced to pull the blog post in which it detailed the update, it means that something went wrong with it, but that doesn’t mean that customers shouldn’t expect Android 4.4.3 KitKat to arrive in their Nexus 5 soon.

As per the original changelog that was pulled on April 17, Sprint’s update for Nexus 5 should enable Spark band 26 and 41, while Google’s changes included in KTU84F update were mentioned as “Android updates.”

Unfortunately, no other details were offered at the time of the listing, but we already know that Google is working on an update that should fix most of the issues that some Nexus devices are affected with, including the camera bug.

However, none of the bug fixes have been confirmed yet, so we should wait and see what issues Google plans to address in the next Android update.

We can safely assume that Android 4.4.3 KitKat will be pushed to all Nexus devices initially, followed by all Google Play Edition devices. The update should then be released for other smartphones, but that will depend on each handset maker and carrier.

Hopefully, Google will finish working on the Android 4.4.3 KitKat update and release it for the general public sooner rather than later. We will keep an eye out for any additional info, so stay tuned for more on this one.
