The Android 4.4.3 update has been in the rumor mill a few weeks ago and Sprint already announced the roll-out of the above-mentioned update for its Nexus 5 variant.

So even though there’s no official word on the matter, the Android 4.4.3 update for the Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 set of tablets might be just around the corner.

Late last month, we told you the Nexus 7 was spotted running Android 4.4.3 build KTU83, so it makes sense to expect the update for the tablet to arrive at any minute.

There haven’t been any leaks about the larger Nexus 10, but since the tablet pertains to the Nexus family it should be included in the first wave of devices receiving the new build.

The changelog giving users a glimpse of what improvements the next Android update might bring, has been leaked last month and includes:

- frequent data connection dropout fix; - mm-qcamera-daemon crash and optimization fixes; - camera focus in regular and HDR modes fixes; - Power Manager display wakelock fix; - multiple Bluetooth fixes; - fix for a random reboot; - app shortcuts sometimes got removed from launcher after update; - USB debugging security fix; - app shortcuts security fix; - Wi-Fi auto-connect fix; - other camera fixes; - MMS, Email/Exchange, Calendar, People/Dialer/Contacts, DSP, IPv6, VPN fixes stuck in activation screen fix; - missed call LED fix; - subtitle fixes; - data usage graph fix; - Internet telephony fix; - FCC compliance fix; - miscellaneous fixes.

Going back to Sprint, it’s a little bit odd that the carrier announced the update before Google had a chance to do so; but since we’re not talking about a major update here, it might make sense.

Even so, the new build comes with a lot of important fixes for lots of security and stability issues reported by users.

As usual, the new Android 4.4.3 KitKat OTA update will be pushed to users gradually, meaning the time of arrival will vary depending on device, model and region.

Anyway, when your Nexus 7 or Nexus 10 is eligible to receive the new update, you should see a system update message in the notification area alerting you if build has arrived. Or you could check for yourself in the Settings Menu under About Tablet> System Updates > Check Now.

Since Android 4.4.3 is a minor update, it will probably arrive with a size of about 100MB. But patience is of the essence, as we wait for the new build to arrive.
