Google has just started the rollout of the highly anticipated Android 4.4.3 KitKat update for its Nexus devices. For the time being, only T-Mobile’s Nexus smartphones and tablets are eligible for the upgrade, but since the factory images have already been released, we expect the update to go global in the next couple of days.

The update now rolling out at T-Mobile is codenamed KTU84M and has about 135MB in size. While the carrier seems to be a bit reluctant when it comes to letting users know what exactly has been included in this update, those who have installed it have already noticed some important improvements.

Basically, the update doesn’t include just security enhancements and bug fixes, but it also adds new features and visual enhancements that are bringing Android closer to project Hera.

The most obvious improvement included in the update is the completely new dialer. It’s much flatter, simpler, cleaner and lighter. Google has used colors like white, blue and green, so the black has been removed completely.

As Droid-life points out, Google has done some tweaking when it comes to various buttons in the dialer, so you will notice that there are different icons included.

Another tweak that you may not see at first glance is that the People application images are now just like the ones used by another Google application, Gmail. It may be confusing at first, but it does seem to look nicer.

According to AndroidBeat, the update also brings a new feature that will allow users to pause a download of additional files required by large games on the Google Play Store.

This feature wasn’t available prior to installing the update, so it’s a nice addition and very useful for those who want to manage their downloads easier.

Among the bug fixes that Google claims it has included in this update, the most important seems to be the mm-qcamera-daemon issue.

Lots of other under the hood improvements have been included in the update as well, but given the fact that there’s no official changelog yet, we can only speculate.

One last thing that seems to have been noticed by multiple users who have updated to Android 4.4.3 KitKat is the fact that the camera is a bit snappier after the upgrade.

Keep in mind that this is only a partial changelog of Android 4.4.3 KitKat update, but we will update this post with more details as soon as we get them, so stay tuned.
