It should be released at other carriers as well soon

More HTC One users out there are now receiving the Android 4.4.2 KitKat platform update, as Australian wireless carrier Telstra has also started to push it to its users.

The new software version arrives on devices with build number 4.20.980.1 attached to it, and can be downloaded over the air now, it seems.

The file amounts 308MB in size, and should provide users with all the enhancements that the Android 4.4.2 OS version was announced with, as well as with various improvements and fixes.

On top of that, the new firmware version comes to devices with HTC’s own Sense 5.5 user interface in tow, as a recent post on Ausdroid reads.

For those out of the loop, we should note that HTC has announced the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for its HTC One devices with features such as Cloud Print Services and new Bluetooth profiles packed inside.

Moreover, the new release will deliver a series of security enhancements, and might also arrive with a fix for the Wi-Fi bug, that determined HTC to halt its roll out to users in the UK several weeks ago.

However, the Taiwanese mobile phone maker has started pushing the update to its flagship phone in Europe again, with support for additional router models inside, which means that the aforementioned issue with Wi-Fi networks has been resolved.

In Australia, only HTC One devices on Telstra’s network are receiving the new firmware release, though it should not be too long before other carriers follow suit as well.

In fact, Ausdroid notes that Optus has already announced on its support website that the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for HTC One has already been approved, and that it should start arriving in mid-March.

Moreover, Vodafone also specifies that it has completed testing the new release, and that it is currently awaiting the update to start arriving on devices over the air.

At the same time, the wireless carrier claims that the Android 4.4 update for the HTC One mini is set to become available for download in the near future as well.

At the moment, owners of an HTC One device on Telstra’s network should head over to Settings > About Phone > Software updates to see whether the new release has arrived on their devices or not.

Those who have an unlocked HTC One unit should have already received the update to KitKat, since the Taiwanese carrier pushed it out several weeks ago.
