Soon, owners of the Sony Xperia Z1s devices on the network of wireless carrier T-Mobile in the United States might receive an update to the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system, as the firmware has already received the necessary approvals.

The new software release was spotted on the website of PTCRB with build number 14.3.D.0.183 attached to it, which will mark a major step forward from the 14.2.C.0.159 firmware version that was previously certified for it.

As XperiaBlog notes, the fact that this software release was approved for the Xperia Z1s C6916 suggests that it might not be too long at all before it arrives on devices with all the benefits of the Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS packed inside.

However, additional enhancements coming from Sony Mobile itself should also be present inside the firmware update when it starts arriving.

The Xperia Z1 has already been updated to the Android 4.4.2 KitKat platform iteration, but Sony hasn’t announced specific info on when it releases the operating system upgrade to T-Mobile’s users as well.

However, the company will certainly provide more details on the matter as the release date for the update nears. Hopefully, it won’t be too long before that happens, so keep an eye on this space to learn additional info on it.
