Owners of Galaxy S4 Active will be happy to know Samsung has finally started the rollout of the long-awaited Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for their smartphones.

Aside from bringing the phone’s software to Android 4.4.2 KitKat, the update also includes some new features and improvements, along with bug fixes.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Active users will notice their devices will be slightly faster post update. KitKat also adds the usual white status bar icons, better battery life and the camera shortcut on the lock screen. Wireless printing support, along with the option to choose the default messaging app are included as well.

Given the fact this is a staged rollout, the upgrade will not be available for Galaxy S4 Active devices at the same time, but Samsung should complete the rollout in the next couple of weeks.

According to SamMobile, Android 4.4.2 KitKat for Samsung Galaxy S4 Active is now available for download in the Netherlands. However, we expect the update to go live in other European countries in the next few days.

Those who have yet to be notified on the update may want to manually check for it by going to Settings / General / About phone / Software updates.
