After months of waiting, Android enthusiasts in Canada who have purchased the LG G2 are now finally able to upgrade their devices to Google’s latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system.

We reported yesterday that Rogers confirmed that it would start seeding the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for LG G2 on March 25 and recent rumors claimed that Bell Mobility would follow shortly.

Well, it looks like the rumors were accurate and Rogers’ promise to bring Android 4.4.2 KitKat to LG G2 devices has come true. MobileSyrup reports that many G2 users who purchased their smartphones via Bell or Rogers have already started to receive the update.

Those who have yet to be notified of the upgrade should manually check for it by going to Settings / About phone / Software update. Keep in mind that the update is pushed OTA (over the air) in stages, so it might not be available to all LG G2 owners at the same time.

Due to the fact that the update has around 635MB in size, it is recommended to download it via Wi-Fi connection rather than using the carrier’s GSM network.

LG G2 users will be pleased to know that the update contains major improvements to both performance and visual stats. Some of these changes may not be noticeable at first glance, but LG was kind enough to offer a changelog that highlights some of the new features and enhancements added.

The most obvious changes are those made to the user interface, as the latest version of Android includes various enhancements such as restyled status and navigation bars, a new full-screen mode, improved closed captioning support, and stronger security.

Those complaining of the G2’s battery life will be happy to know that Android 4.4.2 KitKat update should improve battery efficiency. According to LG, the smartphone will play music more efficiently and with the newly added support for the battery-saving location mode, users should benefit from extended battery life.

Some under the hood improvements will also result in faster processing speed. LG G2 users will be able to notice a slight speed boost when running applications, as well as faster web-browsing speed thanks to the Chromium engine.

LG has also added improvements to the KnockOn feature, so users will be able to benefit from enhanced responsiveness from the innovative feature.

Google Cloud Printer is another new service made available via Android 4.4.2 KitKat update. This new feature will allow LG G2 users to print documents via Wi-Fi or a Bluetooth connection.
