Good news for HTC Desire 601 owners in Canada, as the Taiwanese handset maker has just delivered the highly anticipated Android 4.4.2 KitKat update.

HTC confirmed back in December 2013 that Desire 601 would receive an Android 4.4.2 KitKat update sometime in late March. True to its promise, HTC has just kicked off the rollout of the upgrade in Canada, so those who own the Desire 601 may want to check for it.

According to MobileSyrup, Koodo Mobile has just confirmed that HTC Desire 601 owners are now eligible for the long-awaited Android 4.4.2 KitKat update.

Major carrier Rogers has also confirmed on its OS Upgrades webpage that Android 4.4.2 KitKat for HTC Desire 601 is now available for download.

Last but not least, Bell Mobility also states that the upgrade to Android 4.4.2 KitKat is now available for HTC Desire 601 users who purchased their phones through its official channels.

Aside from bringing the phone’s software to Android 4.4.2 KitKat, the update also contains an upgrade to HTC Sense 5.5 UI from the older Sense 5.0 UI that comes preloaded by default.

HTC Desire 601 owners who have yet to be notified of the update can manually check for it by going to Settings / About Phone / Software update.
