The world's first curved smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy Round, was released back in October with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box.

However, Samsung confirmed soon after release that the Galaxy Round would receive an Android 4.4.2 KitKat upgrade at some point this year.

Although the smartphone is only available for purchase in a handful of countries, many Samsung fans in those regions bought the device because it was the world's first handset to feature a curved display.

Well, it appears that starting today, Samsung Galaxy Round owners will be able to upgrade their devices to Android 4.4.2 KitKat, SamMobile reports.

The update is likely to be pushed OTA (over the air) in stages, so it might take a while until it reaches all Samsung Galaxy Round devices.
