A few months ago, South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics officially confirmed plans to make the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system available for a multitude of devices in its lineup, and the update is now available for the Galaxy S4 zoom handsets out there, it seems.

The Android 4.4.2 KitKat platform has already been pushed out to various devices in the company’s lineup, and it should not be too long before all planned handsets receive it.

At the moment, the platform upgrade is said to be rolling out to users in Russia and to be landing on devices with build number C101XXUBNF4 attached to it.

As SamMobile reports, the update was spotted only on Galaxy S4 zoom with model number SM-C101 for the time being. However, it should not be too long before other phone variants receive it as well.

The Android 4.4.2 KitKat update should arrive on Samsung Galaxy S4 zoom devices with all of the features and capabilities that have already been pushed on other Samsung models out there, that’s for sure.

Thus, owners of this mobile phone will enjoy performance improvements following the update, along with a redesigned status bar, which now features white icons and various other visual changes.

On top of that, the update should provide users with support for wireless printing, while also featuring full-screen album art on the lock screen.

And since the Galaxy S4 zoom was made official with a 20-megapixel camera on the back with 10x optical zoom, its users will certainly rejoice learning that Android 4.4.2 KitKat will also provide them with a camera app shortcut on the lock screen.

Additionally, the update will bring along a series of updates to various Samsung applications, and it should provide users with a much improved overall experience.

Unfortunately, Samsung hasn’t provided an official changelog for the new Galaxy S4 zoom OS upgrade as of now, and we’re uncertain on what other enhancements might have been included in the software.

Chances are that some of the features that this year’s Galaxy K zoom was announced with made it inside last year’s smartphone too, though it remains to be seen whether that has indeed happened.

Users should receive a notification on the availability of this update, but they can also check for it manually, through heading to Settings > About phone > Software updates.

As mentioned above, the update was spotted in Russia for the time being, but it should arrive in other markets out there in the not too distant future, so stay tuned to learn more on the matter.
