Recently, mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless has confirmed plans to deliver the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system update to the owners of Motorola Droid RAZR HD devices on its network, and it seems that the update is already available for download.

Some of those who own the device are currently reporting that the new platform release is up for grabs over the air, and that it will land on handsets as software version 182.46.10.en.US.

In addition to bringing along the Android 4.4.2 platform iteration, the new firmware refresh will also provide users with a series of security patches, as well as with an enhanced Droid Zap app, and other improvements.

Moreover, as Android Central notes, the Droid RAZR HD is not the only Motorola smartphone on Verizon’s network currently receiving the KitKat update.

Owners of RAZR M handsets should also be getting the new software release at the moment, with all of the aforementioned chances packed inside.

One thing that users should keep in mind is the fact that the update will roll out in phases, which means that not all users out there will receive it right away.

Owners of Droid RAZR HD and RAZR M should receive a notification on the availability of the new software release, but they can also check on it manually, through going to Settings > About phone > Software updates > Check now.
