Last week, Japanese mobile phone maker Sony Mobile started to roll out the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system to the owners of Xperia E1 and Xperia E1 Dual handsets in its lineup, and it seems that owners of Xperia M2 devices will receive it very soon as well.

In fact, the handset vendor has already confirmed that the update will be coming to this smartphone and to the Xperia M2 Dual variant, though it has not offered specific details on when that should happen.

However, the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for these devices has been already certified by PTCRB, which suggests that the official rollout is coming soon.

The firmware for Xperia M2 has been certified with build numbers 18.3.C.0.37 and 18.3.A.0.31 attached to it, while the update for Xperia M2 dual has received approvals as version 18.3.B.0.31, a recent post on gizmobolt reads.

No specific info on the update has been provided as of now, but we can assume that it will include the same features and capabilities that were delivered to Xperia E1 devices, as well as to other Sony smartphones before.

Undoubtedly, Sony will reveal more details on its plans on the matter very soon, along with specifics on when the update will start arriving on devices.
