Japanese mobile phone maker Sony Mobile has confirmed a while ago plans to deliver the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system upgrade to Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, and Xperia ZR handsets in Q2, and the company has provided some more info on the matter now.

So as to show that it remains committed to pushing said OS refresh to its users, the company has updated the product pages for all of the aforementioned mobile phones, adding “May 2014” as the release timeframe for the Android 4.4.2 KitKat platform upgrade for them, as XperiaBlog discovered.

Unfortunately, the handset vendor does not provide specific info on the release date of the update, so it remains to be seen whether users will have to wait only a couple of weeks more to receive it, or more than a month.

The one thing that is certain, however, is the fact that the update is coming in May. You can head over to the company’s support website to check the product pages of said smartphones to see the latest updates made to them.

Most probably, Sony will make an official announcement on the availability of the new platform release as soon as it is ready for rollout, so stay tuned to learn more on the matter.
