South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics is making the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system version available for more devices out there, with the Galaxy S4 mini Black Edition being the latest to have received it.

The mobile phone was made available for purchase on only a few markets out there, yet it seems that Samsung is highly interested in ensuring that it can deliver an updated experience to its users.

In fact, the Galaxy S4 mini Black Edition is receiving the updated platform iteration before the original Galaxy S4 Mini, which is rather interesting, that’s for sure.

However, this also shows that Samsung is about to make the operating system update available for all Galaxy S4 mini devices out there as soon as possible, although it remains to be seen when exactly that will happen.

As SamMobile notes, the Galaxy S4 mini Black Edition (model number GT-I9195) is currently receiving the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update at Belgian provider Proximus.

The new firmware is available for download through the Samsung Kies, and users interested in receiving it should connect their phones to a desktop computer or laptop for that. The one thing that hasn’t been confirmed as of now is whether the platform upgrade started arriving over the air too.

Apparently, the software is available online for manual download as well, yet those of you who don’t want to get through this hurdle should simply sit tight and wait for it to officially arrive.

As for the Galaxy S4 mini, the smartphone is expected to get a taste of Android 4.4.2 KitKat as soon as this month, though Samsung has yet to offer exact info on when the rollout will kick off.

Early last month, a leaked internal document from Samsung unveiled that the company was considering the release of Android 4.4.2 KitKat for a great deal of devices, including the Galaxy S4 mini, and it seems that the info is about to pan out.

Smartphones such as Galaxy Grand 2 and Galaxy Mega are also expected to get a taste of the update before the end of this month, yet official confirmation on this hasn’t arrived for the time being.

In the meantime, however, we should also note that Samsung is expected to make the Android 4.4.3 KitKat platform iteration available for its Galaxy S5 smartphones in June, and that it has actually already kicked off the deployment in the United States, on the network of wireless carrier US Cellular.
