It’s been almost six months since the update was released worldwide

Sony Mobile confirmed that the Xperia Z would eventually receive and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean upgrade after the smartphone was launched with Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean onboard.

True to its promise, the Japanese company released the update late last year, but Android 4.3 Jelly Bean did not reach all Xperia Z devices in the first few weeks.

It took at least a few months until the highly anticipated Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update was available in most countries, but there are still places where Xperia Z owners are waiting for the upgrade to arrive.

One such place is the United States, where Xperia Z users who have purchased their devices through T-Mobile’s official retail channels have been stuck on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean for quite some time.

Well, there’s finally some good news for T-Mobile Xperia Z owners who have been informed earlier this week that Android 4.3 Jelly Bean is rolling out, but the update never came in fact.

It appears that there were some issues with firmware version 10.4.C.0.808, which was announced on June 2, which is why Sony and T-Mobile are now rolling out a newer firmware version, namely 10.4.C.0.814.

At least one Xperia Z owner has confirmed on T-Mobile USA’s support forum that he has managed to capture the update and his smartphone has been upgraded to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

This is the good news, but the bad news is that T-Mobile Xperia Z owners might have to wait another six months for the carrier to bring the smartphone to Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

The KitKat upgrade for Xperia Z has been released by Sony for a few months now, but T-Mobile customers are now treated with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean instead.

While we do realize that T-Mobile needs some time between major updates, we hope that the KitKat update for Xperia Z will not take more than a few months to be released.

Keep in mind that this is a staged rollout, so the long-awaited Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update may not reach all Xperia Z units at the same time. It’s also worth mentioning that the update is deployed OTA (over the air), so make sure you have a stable Wi-Fi connection while downloading it.

Android 4.3 Jelly Bean brings quite a few new features and improvements to Xperia Z. For more details on what’s new in this version of Android and what the new features included by Sony are, check out our in-depth article.
