Sony released the long-awaited Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for Xperia M less than a week ago, but the dual version of the smartphone has been left out from the initial rollout.

The dual-SIM Xperia M has been released in several markets, such as India and Russia, with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box.

Although Sony has confirmed that the smartphone will receive an Android 4.3 Jelly Bean upgrade at some point, no details on the exact release dates have been offered.

Last week, when Sony kicked off the rollout of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for the single-SIM variant of Xperia M, we thought that the dual-SIM version would never receive it.

Luckily, Indian customers who purchase the dual-SIM version of Xperia M, along with other Android fans who own the smartphone, will now be able to upgrade their devices to Jelly Bean 4.3.

XperiaGuide reports that Sony has just started to seed the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for Xperia M dual, but for now, it’s only available via Sony PC Companion desktop software.

For the time being, there have been reports about the update’s availability in Brazil and several European countries, but it should become available in other parts of the world as well in the coming days.

Those who have yet to be notified of the update should manually check for firmware version 15.5.A.0.18 by connecting their Xperia M dual phones to a PC via Sony PC Companion application.

Keep in mind that the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean file for Xperia M dual is about 770MB in size, so it may take a while until it gets downloaded.

Aside from bringing the phone’s software to version Android 4.3, the update adds some new features and improvements that will make user’s experience much smoother. For example, there’s a new White Xperia UI included, along with Sony Smart Social camera application.

Once the Jelly Bean update is applied, Sony Xperia M dual user will be given access to downloadable Xperia themes, as well as updated media applications such as Walkman, Movies, Album. Some security enhancements have been included in the update as well, but no additional details have been provided.

On a side note, Sony Xperia M dual hasn’t been confirmed for an Android 4.4.2 KitKat upgrade, so the current Jelly Bean OS may be the last major update that the Japanese company rolls out for this particular smartphone.
