Japanese mobile phone maker Sony Mobile has started to roll out the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system to more devices out there, including the Xperia M, it seems.

The platform upgrade is said to be live now for the owners of Sony Xperia M C1904 and C1905 handsets, and to be arriving on smartphones as build number 15.4.A.0.23.

The Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update was released to other Sony devices for quite some time now, but it seems that the company still has plans for upgrading some more of them.

As XperiaBlog notes, users will enjoy a nice range of enhancements as part of the new OS version, including Sony’s Smart Social camera, along with updated Media apps.

Owners of Xperia M phones can check on the availability of this update by connecting the phone to the Sony PC Companion app. They will be able to download the new firmware release through this app as well.

Those who would like to verify the current firmware version loaded on their handsets should head over to Settings > About Phone > Build number.

Before proceeding with the update, users should make sure that the battery inside the phone is charged at least at 50 percent, and that they have also backed up all of their personal files on the phone.

The update should not affect these files, but a backup ensures that no important info is lost in the event, in case something goes wrong during the installation process.

Sony has already updated Xperia M’s product page to inform users on the availability of the new software release and has also posted a changelog for it, it seems.

According to the company, the firmware refresh will deliver a smooth UI, along with graphics enhancements to Xperia M devices, as well as the entire range of security enhancements that Android 4.3 Jelly Bean has been pushed out with.

At the same time, the update includes a new version of Battery STAMINA Mode, which should result in longer battery life for the smartphone.

The camera interface of the device has been updated as well in the new firmware, now providing users with features such as Burst Mode, Superior Auto, and others more.

As for the aforementioned Media apps that have seen new versions in this OS upgrade, we can count Sony Walkman, Album, Movies, and others.

Apparently, the update is available in various regions in Europe and Asia now, but only for the single-SIM version of the mobile phone, and there’s no evidence that the update has started arriving on Xperia M dual as well as of now.
