Good news for Xperia SP owners, as Sony is about to release the highly anticipated Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for their devices. A new build has been recently spotted online, and if all goes well, it might be pushed to Xperia SP device in the coming days.

Sony promised last year that it would offer an Android 4.3 Jelly Bean upgrade for Xperia SP sometime in December. However, for unknown reasons the Japanese company hasn’t been able to keep its promise and release the update by the end of the year.

We reported over the weekend that Sony took it to Twitter to apologize about the situation and confirmed that its engineers were still working on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean for Xperia SP.

The handset maker also stated that update would be available soon and, by the language it used, we assumed Android 4.3 would arrive on Xperia SP in the next couple of days.

It looks like we were somewhat right, as XperiaBlog reports a new Android 4.3 firmware build for Xperia SP has just been certified at PTCRB.

Software version 12.1.A.0.256 is compatible with Xperia SP models C5302, C5303, C5306 and comes to replace build number 12.1.A.0.256 which was certified last month but never made live.

We suspect Sony had to address some minor bugs or add some improvements, which might also be the reason the Android 4.3 update for Xperia SP has been delayed.

Unfortunately, we can’t tell for sure if this is the final version of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean for Xperia SP, but we will definitely know within the next couple of days.

If we don’t spot another new firmware for Xperia SP at PTCRB in the next few days, owners of the device should expect the next major software upgrade for their smartphone to be rolled out soon.
