Sony Mobile is getting ready for the release of a new platform upgrade for some of its users, including those who own an Xperia S, Xperia P, go, SL, Acro S, and ion, apparently the last update that these handsets will ever receive.

No official confirmation on the matter has been provided, but rumors have already emerged on esato, suggesting that all these devices will be left out of newer Android platform releases.

“Android 4.1.2 will be the final update for S/SL/Acro S/Ion/Go/P,” one forum member notes there, as rbmen found out.

For those out of the loop, we should note that Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean is expected to arrive on these smartphones very soon, as Sony has already confirmed that the update had reached the final stages of development.

Sony has yet to offer any info on its plans for newer Android OS flavors for these devices, so stay tuned for additional details.
