Wireless carrier T-Mobile has been very slow with the release of OS upgrades for the Sony Xperia Z smartphone, and the availability of the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update for the device only now comes as a proof of that.

The good news, however, is the fact that the update is coming, and that users will be able to enjoy various enhancements when compared to the platform version currently available on their phones.

The software arrives as a 185MB download, and will bump the firmware version on the phone up to 10.3.1.E.0.191.

As UnwiredView notes, users should make sure that they have charged the battery of the phone at least at 50 percent before kicking off the update process. They will also need 200MB of free space to install it.

Apparently, T-Mobile is set to complete the deployment of the new upgrade by December 18. Users will receive it over-the-air, and they can check on its availability through going to Settings > About phone > Software update.
