On Friday, November 9, 2012, Motorola and Verizon Wireless started the deployment of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for the owners of DROID RAZR M devices in the United States.

The software update has been confirmed as rolling out in phases, and should reach all users in a matter of weeks.

At the moment, the new platform upgrade is being delivered over-the-air, but Verizon has also announced that it will become available for manual downloads as well within the next week.

The new software update arrives on devices as version 98.12.4.XT907.Verizon.en.US and includes not only the enhancements that Android 4.1 Jelly Bean has been already announced with, but also a series of other improvements.

For those out of the loop, we should note that Android 4.1 Jelly Bean lands on devices with Voice Search and Notifications updates, as well as with a smart keyboard packed inside, and with the Google Now feature.

“Jelly Bean includes enhancements and new features like Google Now which shows relevant information based on time and current location. Users can get the local weather forecast before starting their day or see how long their commute will be before even leaving the house,” Verizon Notes.

Moreover, the new update will provide users with the possibility to personalize their home screens easier than before with the option to add and resize widgets on the screen, while also offering them a better touch experience, more intuitive graphics and smoother transitions.

The Wi-Fi connectivity of this Motorola handset has been improved in this update, the same as the Bluetooth Connectivity and its Multimedia Messaging delivery.

Other enhancements packed inside the new update include:

- Circles widget has been updated to enable instant updating - Improved voice and data connectivity quality, reducing instances of losing 3G and 4G services - Reduced time needed to access GPS signal - Contacts sync more often, eliminating the need to wait for manual or nighttime sync - Improvements to Setup Wizard UI makes the email setup experience more user friendly - Native calendar settings have been improved for better user experience - Improved Mobile Hotspot data connectivity - Improved reliability and connectivity of Back Up Assistant Plus & Visual Voicemail

At the same time, the software update arrives on DROID RAZR M with updated applications, such as Verizon Remote Diagnostics, QuickOffice, VZ Navigator, Video Calling Portal App, and new VZWAPPs version integrated with the system.

Furthermore, the handset now offers support for the Isis Mobile Wallet, which should enable users to easily make payments while on the go, straight from the smartphone in their hands.
