Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless has started to deliver the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system to its Samsung Galaxy Stratosphere II users, while also packing the update with some additional enhancements.

The new software release arrives on handsets as version JZO54K.I415VRBMA3, and should bring some new life to last year’s QWERTY-enabled device.

“Verizon Wireless is pleased to announce a new software update, SW Version JZO54K.I415VRBMA3, for your Samsung Galaxy Stratosphere II. This update includes an upgrade to the Android Operating System 4.1 (Jelly Bean),” the wireless carrier announced.

As part of this upgrade, users will enjoy enhancements such as actionable, expandable notifications, so that they can do more straight from the Notifications Panel.

Some of the available interactions include the ability to send emails, return calls, share photos, and more.

Furthermore, the update brings along Google feature, which is capable of delivering relevant information to users at the right time.

Other new features packed inside the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean upgrade include voice search, powered by the Knowledge Graph, along with a Favorite App Widget, and the option to create folders and add icons to them on the homescreen.

As mentioned above, the update sports a series of other enhancements as well, coming from Verizon and Samsung, such as:

- Polaris and Verizon Remote Diagnostics has been added - VZ Apps, Verizon Video, Zappos, Color App, and VPN Client (icon only) have been removed - Quick Office application has been updated to allow users to use S-Beam without downloading any external app - Connectivity while streaming music on Pandora has been improved - Improvements have been made for sending and receiving text messages - Improved Wi-Fi connectivity

The update will arrive on Stratosphere II handsets at Verizon in phases, yet the carrier hasn’t announced a specific timeframe for the completion of the deployment. Users interested in learning more on the update should go to this page on the carrier’s website.
