It will leave the tablet behind the phone, but it's still an improvement

While Sony's Xperia S smartphone will soon get the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system, the Tablet S isn't quite as lucky.

While a software upgrade has, indeed, been prepared for it, it will only drag the OS from Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean, not 4.2.

As such, multi-user support won't be included, nor will the gesture keyboard and Photosphere features.

Everything else will work fine: Google Now, Project Butter, expanded notifications.

Sony may or may not add some extra perks of its own. We don't know.

Thus, we will just have to wait until the update starts rolling around, which shouldn't really take that long. Owners of the Xperia Tablet S may find it available through their “Settings” menu before the day is out.
