Earlier this year, Sony Mobile has promised the availability of the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean for a variety of its devices, including the Xperia ion, but still hasn’t announced an official release date for this handset’s upgrade.

However, it seems that it might not be long at all before the new software arrives on the smartphone, as a new Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean-based firmware has been approved for Xperia ion, featuring build number 6.2.B.0.211.

The firmware was spotted at PTCRB, and might arrive on handsets soon, especially since owners of Xperia S devices started to receive it not long ago, XperiaBlog notes.

Although no official confirmation on the matter is available at the moment, chances are that the new 6.2.B.0.211 firmware will indeed bring the Jelly Bean OS to Xperia ion LT28h handsets, so stay tuned to learn more on the matter.
