Starting today, the owners of a Galaxy Note smartphone on the network of wireless carrier AT&T should be able to download and install the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean platform release on their devices, it seems.

The update has already been pushed to Galaxy Note units in various other markets around the world, and it seems that AT&T has finally decided to join the party.

The new software update is said to have already started to emerge on some devices, and should be in full swing later today.

However, users should know that they will be able to download and install the new OS version only through the Samsung Kies application. This means that users will have to connect their devices to a Windows PC to update them, as Android Police notes in a recent post.

The news site also unveils some of the enhancements that Galaxy Note owners on AT&T’s network will be provided with following the update.

The list includes:

- Popup note: Allows user to instantly write down directions, phone numbers, and other information while on a call.

- Popup Video and Browser: Allows user to watch video or browse the web while performing other tasks.

- Photo note and frame: Allows user to write down notes on the front and back of a photo.

- Easy clip: Allows user to crop an image from any screen and save or share easily.

- Paper artist: Provides an emotional & aesthetic photo editing experience.

- Handwriting on S planner and email: Handwrite memos or send handwritten notes via email.

- Enhanced S note: More effects & templates were added.

Users are advised to back up all of their personal files and info before proceeding with the update, although no data should be impacted during the installation process. They should also consider charging the battery inside their smartphones to the full before proceeding, just to make sure.
