Sure, the Kindle Fire is nice and all, but why bother with Amazon’s port of the Android OS when Ice Cream Sandwich is so much cooler?

That’s exactly what a user on the XDA Forums though when he started his work on getting Android 4.0 to run on the $199 7-inch tablet.

After about two weeks spent on this project, g1011999 came out with an ICS port for the Kindle Fire which you can check out in the video above this post.

As you can see, touch input and hardware graphics acceleration works pretty nice, but there are still some issues than need to be sorted out including audio and Wi-Fi.

The developer plans to release the source code of its port soon, but for now this is primarily targeting those that have in-depth knowledge of the Android OS and who can help the project more forwards.
