Australian carrier Telstra has just informed its customers that HTC canceled the long-awaited Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for Desire S.

“Unfortunately Android 4.0 “Ice Cream Sandwich” update for the HTC Desire S has been cancelled by HTC and as such this device will not be receiving any further platform updates,” announced Telstra on its support site.

There’s more bad news for Android fans as Telstra also confirmed HTC postponed the promised Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for One S and One XL smartphones.

Although the updates were expected to arrive this month, the Taiwanese handset maker decided to push it back a few weeks.

HTC One XL and One S owners will be able to upgrade to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean sometime in the first half of November. For more details on Telstra’s updates, check out the original announcement.
