Although Samsung has started the rollout of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for Galaxy S II a few months ago, Indian owners have been left out until today.

The long-awaited Android 4.0 ICS update has finally reached Indian shores via Samsung Kies desktop software. Galaxy S II owners will also be able to upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich OTA (over the air) via Wi-Fi or mobile network.

The update is about 220MB in size and brings lots of new features and improvements. However, it is recommended to back up all personal data stored on the smartphone prior to updating.

According to Samsung, settings for Music Playlist, Homescreen, APN and others will be reset during the update, so users might want to take that into consideration as well.

Keep in mind that the update is pushed in stages, so it might take a while until it reaches all Galaxy S II units.
